In 1999, working with 60 of the world's leading film archives, Posner began work on Unseen Cinema: Early American Avant-Garde Film 1893-1941, a film restoration and preservation project sponsored by Anthology Film Archives and Deutsches Film Museum. The widely exhibited retrospective has been hailed a milestone in the study of the formative stages of American experimental cinema.
